Wow, awesome and inspiring read! You mention copying existing game mechanics, what are roughly the rules and how do you resolve fighting the guardians for each region of The Great Diamond Quest? I do roleplay with my boys (both under 10) and wargames with Lego. Would love to get into board game design with them and get their creative juices flowing around a framework such as The Great Diamond Quest.
